Our “at large” chapter serves any UTSPS members (or interested poetry aficionados) who are unable to attend traditional monthly chapter meetings, whether they live too far away or are dealing with other issues that prevent them from participating in person. Our ranks include novice poets, accomplished award winners, and everyone in between.

As a Hinterlander, you can visit an online haven where group members are free to explore poetic techniques and connect with kindred spirits. We not only share original poems and give or receive constructive feedback via email at least once a month, but we also discover ways to improve our own writing by learning useful stuff from our fellow poets’ creative contributions and their insightful analyses. In addition, we hold poetry reading nights on the second Tuesday of each month, beginning at 6:30 PM, on the Discord application.  This gives us the opportunity to hear each other’s voices and rub shoulders virtually with our talented friends.

Although Utah residents predominate, our membership has included poets from places as diverse as Garland, Texas, and Basel, Switzerland. If you already are–or wish to become–a member of UTSPS, but you do not have access to a local chapter for some reason, you are welcome to join Hinterlands Poets. Please contact our current chapter president, Marney Zambrano, who resides way out in the nether regions of Idaho.
